Hunter Maynard, LCDC III, CT, is a Clinical Therapist with three years of experience in behavioral health and addiction services. His decision to pursue this field was shaped by lived experience and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for individuals affected by mental health and substance use disorders. These experiences have given Hunter a deep appreciation for compassionate, evidence-based care and the meaningful role that supportive professionals can play throughout the recovery process. Growing up in a community significantly impacted by the opioid epidemic also provided Hunter with firsthand awareness of the stigma, systemic barriers, and challenges individuals and families may encounter when seeking treatment. This perspective continues to shape his commitment to reducing stigma through education, increasing awareness of substance use disorders as chronic and treatable medical conditions, and advocating for accessible, person-centered behavioral health services. Hunter’s clinical areas of focus include anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, bipolar disorder, and identity-related work. His therapeutic approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and attachment-based therapies. He draws from these approaches to provide individualized support that reflects each client’s unique experiences, needs, strengths, and goals. What Hunter values most about his work is the opportunity to know clients as people—not simply by the circumstances that brought them to treatment. He believes everyone has a unique story and strives to create a genuine, approachable therapeutic environment where individuals feel seen, heard, and understood. Supporting clients as they grow, sharing moments of humor, and celebrating both major milestones and small victories are among the aspects of clinical practice he finds most meaningful. Outside of work, Hunter enjoys spending time with his fiancée, Ali, and their three cats, Basil, Sage, and Fig. He is also a Star Wars fan, enjoys going for walks, and appreciates the occasional TikTok scroll.
