Heather L. Englund, MSW, LSW

Clinical Therapist

Heather L. Englund, MSW, LSW, is a Licensed Social Worker and Clinical Therapist with five years of experience in the behavioral health field. Her passion for this work is rooted in sharing experience, strength, and hope with her clients while helping them recognize that lasting recovery—and a life filled with joy, peace, and meaning—is possible. Heather’s clinical practice is grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches to substance use disorder (SUD) treatment. She views addiction as a complex disease shaped by a combination of genetics, neurobiology, trauma, family systems, and environmental influences. Recognizing that every recovery journey is unique, Heather individualizes treatment according to each client’s needs, experiences, strengths, and stage of recovery. Her therapeutic approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), psychoeducation, relapse prevention, mindfulness-based interventions, and strengths-based therapy. She also integrates attachment theory, family systems concepts, and neuroscience-informed education to help clients better understand the connections among the brain, emotions, relationships, and addictive behaviors. For Heather, one of the most meaningful aspects of being a therapist is witnessing transformation. She is passionate about helping clients understand the science of addiction, process trauma, and rediscover their authentic selves. She believes recovery is not simply about becoming someone new, but about reconnecting with who a person was always meant to be. Outside of her clinical work, Heather enjoys spending time with her two adult children in Nashville and Savannah, traveling, exploring Columbus’ restaurant and arts scene, and cheering on the Buckeyes during football season. She also enjoys walking her dog, practicing yoga, cooking, celebrating life with lifelong friends, studying the neuroscience of addiction and recovery, writing for her blog, and decorating her 150-year-old home in her favorite Columbus neighborhood.
