Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Intensive Outpatient Program in Ohio

Recovery can be difficult for anyone, but when one leaves behind the stability of a therapeutic hospital and returns to society, it becomes nearly impossible to stay sober without help. Finding outpatient treatment after leaving an inpatient facility will provide moral support during their early days of recovery; we cannot expect them to heal alone or without guidance from those who have been through this before.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program

Intensive Outpatient Treatment is more involved than the traditional outpatient program. IOP programming includes ten clinical hours per week. Clients attend group sessions three to five days out of the week, for 3 hours a day and have individual or family therapy sessions. In transitioning from an inpatient environment, IOP is a great stepping stone because it provides clients with strong support. At the same time, they are engaged in everyday life – such as going to work or spending time with loved ones – without being exposed to substances that may trigger cravings and relapse.

Upon admission to White Light Behavioral Health, our Clinical Team discusses each client’s needs and has already assessed their strengths and weaknesses. We then lay out an individualized course of treatment for them- including what they will do while at the facility and after they leave. One thing we do is work on relapse prevention so that clients can begin healthily dealing with triggers before it becomes too difficult for them – which would mean another hospital stay or death. With our therapists working one-on-one with clients who might have had difficulties during recovery in the past but are struggling again once outside of care, we focus on helping individuals find ways to deal with anything life throws their way.

Social support goes a long way in helping us figure out how to live an abstinent lifestyle. Clients have this built-in social group during IOP Treatment, which meets and engages other people struggling with addiction. When others share stories about their experiences, it’s easier for people going down the same path now to gain insight. This relief strengthens all involved, letting them lean on each other and find what they need to make it through those hard times.

Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient therapy is a continuation of intensive outpatient treatment (IOP). Clients can still work with their therapists while they continue to establish themselves in recovery. It typically consists of 2-hour group sessions twice a week and one individual session once weekly. Outpatient therapy has many documented benefits, including higher long-term recovery rates for individuals who participate in a longer-duration program.

As long as an individual can maintain sobriety and remain clinically appropriate, it would be best for them to do so. During the first year of sobriety, there are many obstacles that individuals need to overcome; a clinical team would serve as a valuable asset. Our professional therapy staff here at White Light Behavioral Health knows each individual well – which includes understanding their fears, hopes, and unique obstacles – helping our clients understand how they can achieve sustainable recovery. Everyone has different experiences when it comes to achieving wellness, but eventually, every person will succeed in some way or another with our assistance.

Additional Information

Throughout addiction treatment and recovery, clients go through drug testing to determine if any substances are present in their body and their blood alcohol content. Our tests are randomly scheduled without warning to protect them from knowing the timeline of this process. Clients receive support when they think about lapsing back into old behaviors – taking preventive action before it happens. White Light Behavioral Health implements various therapies throughout its outpatient programs, using medication and therapy-based treatments for addiction.
